Your best bet is to start by leasring the basics of synthesis and sound design and then spend years honing your craft like the rest of us do, then you still may not be able to nail the sounds unless you happen to be really good at your craft. There are tons of resources and tools to be found free online that can get you started on what will be a long and sometimes head-scratching journey for you, but in the long run will be far more rewarding than PayPal and waiting for the email to arrive. I do not have nearly the breadth and depth of knowledge as the others here, but they are absolutely correct; to use the terms of this thread title, the BEST way is completely different from the EASIEST way. Which method you will choose will depend on your budget - both of your time and your money, and the time constraints deadlines that need to be met to play with this band. And while I can fully appreciate that the precise sound is essential for prog, if you can play the parts properly and to speed, even a preset whore can carry a band. Even if you can nail the sound, being a self-professed bad keyboard player, you might want to spend your time and energy on the actual parts rather than the sound - prog is some tricky technical music.
